Tajzadeh Rejects Prosecutor's Indictment Against Him
Offering his defense at the hearing on Saturday, Tajzadeh said that he has done nothing against the law in the process of the parliamentary election (in February 2000) and said that if violations have been reported, those committing violations should be brought to justice.
He said, "If the violations, the prosecutor alleges have actually taken place, it is an indication that the Guardian Council, the highest watchdog on matters relating to elections is incompetent in conducting healthy election."
He said that as far as he is concerned, the parliamentary election has been sound and the outcome of the election presents the votes the people cast in the ballot boxes.
On Saturday's court hearing the tone of the prosecutor has been very offensive to the extent that he brought the outcome of the parliamentary election in Tehran under question.
He said, "It seems the result of the election has been what the executive officials wished rather than what the people wanted."
Tajzadeh dismissed the charge and accused the prosecutor's allegation as originating from partisan sentiments.
